Paul Gilbert is the founder of Compassion Focused Therapy, and a very kind man. I first met Dr. Gilbert at the Compassionate Mind Retreat and Summit in 2018. I’d been studying the intersection between Buddhist Psychology and Western Psychology for a while, and Gilbert’s work brought this integration to a new level. He merges evolutionary psychology, neuroscience, cognitive-behavioral approaches, Buddhist psychology, Jungian psychology, and a big warm heart into a model he calls “a caring psychology.”

Take a listen to my two interviews (below) with him on the Psychologists Off the Clock Podcast to learn more about:

  • the flows of compassion
  • how we can use compassion to regulate our threat and drive systems
  • why compassion is more important than ever
