Confidence is defined as the feeling or belief that you can rely on someone or something; firm trust. When we’re in an uncomfortable conversation with another person, speaking up requires some inner confidence. In this episode, Diana engages in a real play with Jane Chapman, chef and founder of Communal Table, about developing the inner confidence to speak up in groups and live out her values even when it’s uncomfortable. Diana leads Jane in an embodied compassion exercise you can try for yourself!

You’ll explore:

  • What blocks us from developing confidence in ourselves?
  • The importance of a challenge mindset over a threat mindset
  • How to create an inner army of compassion that will support you in stepping into difficult conversations

Listen to this real play to hear a living example of wise effort and learn some simple things you can do to develop more confidence today!

About Jane Chapman

My name is Jane Chapman, and I am the creator and founder of “The Communal Table Santa Barbara.” I founded the Communal Table at the pandemic’s start in August of 2020. We were still deeply entrenched in ever-changing lockdown protocols, social distancing, and mounting disconnect as we witnessed further polarity and widening disparities within our politics, society & culture in a myriad of issues. It was during this time that I had enough! I sought to cultivate connection, and my strategy began small by bringing women together over a shared meal in my hometown. It has been one of my deepest desires for this project to build bridges within my community and to bring women specifically in front of each other who may not normally be in each other’s spheres of influence.  I hope that by creating events for women, new friendships will form, mentoring opportunities and exciting collaborations between guests will be born of our connection and shared time with each other. Communal Table events are each unique, you may be challenged in your thinking, you may leave with more questions than you came with but I believe that this is a place where growth within & love for others begins.
